The family’s week, on every phone.

FamilyDeck is a shared family calendar: school events and trips, chores, the grocery list and the week ahead. It syncs between your family’s phones, end-to-end encrypted, and there’s no account to make.

How it works

No email, no phone number, no password. A family is the phones that scanned each other’s code.

  1. 1. Start a family

One parent starts the family on their phone with a family name and their own name, and becomes its owner.

  2. 2. Add phones in person

A parent shows a one-time QR code that works once, for 10 minutes, and the new phone scans it. A child without a phone can be added too, and a parent plans and ticks for them.

  3. 3. Sealed between phones

Every change is sealed for each family phone before it leaves. It travels through a Harborline relay, the same one FamilyBeacon uses, which passes it on and can’t read it. Or use your family’s own server.

What FamilyDeck does

Chores, groceries, school and trips, and the week ahead, the same on every family phone.

  • Chores with a reward

A parent adds chores with a reward in points, money or both, and how often: once, every day or some days of the week. Children pick the ones they want and the day, then mark them done, with a note if they like.

  • Checked at the end of the day

Each evening, at 7 pm unless you change it, parents get one reminder to check the day’s chores. Approve and the reward goes on the child’s balance, or decline with a reason the child sees.

  • Rewards

Each child’s balance in points and money, with a history. Parents record payouts and bonuses.

  • Groceries

One shared list for everyone, sorted by aisle. Things you bought before come back with one tap.

  • School and trips

Events with the day, time, place, who’s going and a reminder, and a checklist of things to do, pay or bring that anyone can tick.

  • Week ahead

The next two weeks, day by day, for everyone or one person: events, trip days and chores.

  • Parents and children

Parents set up chores, events and rewards. Children pick and finish their own chores and tick checklists. Everyone shares the grocery list.

  • Every phone is a copy

Each phone keeps the whole family, stored encrypted. A phone that was off for days catches up from any family phone that’s online.

What FamilyDeck can’t do yet

It’s early, and we would rather you hear it from us.

  • Move money

It only keeps count. Pay pocket money however you like, then record the payout so the balance stays right.

  • Back up to the cloud

There’s no cloud backup and no export yet. Every family phone is a full copy, so a second phone is the backup.

  • Other calendars

It doesn’t read or write Google, Apple or Outlook calendars.

  • Instant updates

There are no push notifications. While the app is closed, another phone’s changes can take up to about 15 minutes to show.

  • Invites by link

Phones join in person by scanning a code. There are no email or link invites yet.

  • iPhone

FamilyDeck is Android only. There’s no iPhone or web version.

Coming to Google Play

FamilyDeck is in a closed beta and isn’t on Google Play yet. We’re not taking new testers right now. When it’s ready to install, this page will say how to get it.

Common questions

Is the money real?

No. FamilyDeck only keeps count. Pay pocket money however you like, then record the payout so the balance stays right.

What if my child has no phone?

In Family, tap Add a child without a phone. You plan and tick off chores for them on your phone. If they get a phone later, it can join as them.

What if two people change the same thing?

The later change wins, field by field. If one parent changes the time and the other the place of the same event, both changes stay.

Can we use our own server?

Yes. When you start the family, tap Change and type the address of your own server, which runs the same relay as FamilyBeacon. Phones that join use the family’s server.

Report a bug or send an idea

This goes straight to the person who builds FamilyDeck, and we reply by email. Nothing you type here goes through the relay or to your family’s phones.

What you did, what you expected, and what the app did instead. Screens and times help.
